Abingdon Commons Ribbon Cutting Feb. 15

ABINGDON, Va. – Abingdon Commons, which opened in December, will hold its official ribbon cutting ceremony Feb. 15, offering giveaways, tastings and deals as its welcomes the final piece, a farm-to-table restaurant, to the main floor of its artisan food center.

Members of the Washington County Chamber of Commerce and other business and city leaders will be on hand to celebrate the Hen House, which provides fresh, local and healthy fare. The Chamber event, which begins at 4 p.m., also pays tribute to the other businesses in Abingdon Commons, including Blue Hills Community Market, Brazen Raven Coffee, Platter & Pour and Rise Bakeshop.

“Abingdon Commons is helping tremendously to enrich the economic and commercial life of Washington County, providing a space for community gathering in a beautiful shopping environment that highlights the talents and assets of our region,” said Neta Farmer, executive vice president of the Washington County Chamber of Commerce.

“We are thrilled to see Hen House join this popular food center,” Farmer said. “They have been a popular feature of our local food scene through their familiar food truck; it’s exciting now to see them in the Commons, where residents and visitors can access them in a very inviting environment.”

Nic and Jada Jones, owners of Hen House, said they are looking forward to working with local farms and vendors to provide health-conscious, sustainable and local food options to the community.

“This is a very meaningful and exciting time for us as we expand our business, and we couldn’t be happier to be serving such a wonderful community,” Jada Jones said. “Being a part of Abingdon Commons along with the other vendors, feels like a natural fit for our concept. We love working alongside like-minded businesses and couldn’t be more grateful to be here.”

The public is invited to attend the ribbon cutting, when guests will learn more about plans for the Commons, including the development of the south section of the facility, which will feature a taproom for the popular Tumbling Creek Cider Company and an additional dining area served by Delta Blues BBQ.

Abingdon Commons is located at 238 West Main St.
